A Tale of Two American Health Care Systems, by Glenn Beck
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." - Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities
I need to know something, because it's starting to freak me out. Are there two Glenn Becks? Or is he really some sort of spongy superhero disguised as a muppet? If not, and we're only being invaded by an impostor, would the real Glenn Beck please stand up?
The reason I ask is because for months now, seemingly right around the time the White House was trespassed by a black liberal hell-bent on creating health care reform, Glenn Beck has been touting America's health care system as, quite simply, the best the world has to offer, maybe the best the world has ever seen.
But a year and a half ago, after a routine surgery in the anal region, Mr. Beck experienced what he then described as a "personal voyage through the nightmare that is our health care system." (emphasis added). (And, no, Glenn Beck was not living in Canada, England, or France at the time.)
Another gem from the post-op Beck: "Getting well in this country (again, he's referring to the U.S.) could actually almost kill you."
So who is this man? A man of honor? Nah. A man of scruples? Nooo. Maybe just a man with an extremely short memory? Unlikely.
In reality, he's just a shill who will change positions on any subject (commonly referred to as "flip-flopping," a term I believe made popular by a certain political party's smear machine) to fit the current agenda of the hallowed Grand Old Party.
Glenn Beck knows our health care system needs reform. He knows it needs to be about care. He knows intimately how a system driven by profits-above-all will skirt the needs of the patient if dictated by the "bottom line."
The following clip from The Daily Show is beyond priceless. It is, and I say this without hesitation, the greatest moment of television I have ever seen.
Please enjoy it half as much as I did.
